Transportation
We are unable to provide transportation for campers. However we do not want transportation issues to discourage any potential camper from joining us and are so happy to help figure out how to get every camper to camp! We can facilitate carpooling, providing bus passes, and more. Please contact us directly regarding transportation at girlsrockneworleans@gmail.com.
Who may apply for Summer Rock Camp
Girls Rock New Orleans welcomes campers between the ages of 9-15 during the camp session who self-identify as female, trans, gender non-conforming, two-spirit, or questioning. No musical experience is necessary.
Tuition
$300/ Full Tuition
Financial Assistance available
Girls Rock New Orleans is a state registered nonprofit organization, fiscally sponsored by RUBARB, a 501[c] 3 nonprofit organization and donations made can be tax deductible. Tuition, however, is not a donation, and therefore is not tax deductible. At this time tuition may only be paid by cash, check or money order to Girls Rock New Orleans.
Reduced Tuition / Financial Assistance
Girls Rock New Orleans will not turn any camper away due to lack of funds, therefore financial assistance is available for campers from low- and moderate-income households. Applications for financial assistance should be included with your camp application materials. For more information, please see end of application.
Instrument Instruction
Campers will choose one instrument to study for the week. Campers are assigned to instruments based on availability and their requests. Applicants can request guitar, bass, drums, keyboards or trumpet. Please pick your top 2 choices and we will do our best to accommodate. Please know that you may not be assigned to your first or second choice, but it doesn’t mean you wont have a great time! Due to the need to acquire gear we need in advance, you cannot change your selection after you send in your application, and you cannot change during the camp week.
Non-Discrimination Policy
Girls Rock New Orleans does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national and/or ethnic origin, marital status, sexual orientation, mental or physical ability, gender identity or expression.
Camper Selection / Notification
Summer Rock Campers are selected by a committee seeking to establish a balanced and diverse camp population in relation to instrument groups, age, race/ethnicity, economic status, geography/community, and experience. Campers are not selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Though we will do our best to accept everyone, we cannot guarantee admission for all applicants. We will do our best to accommodate everyone who applies in future programs of Girls Rock New Orleans.
Upon receipt of your application, we will send you a notice via e-mail/phone confirming that we have received it. If you have not heard from us within two weeks of submitting your application, email girlsrockneworleans@gmail.com. Otherwise, please wait to hear from us regarding acceptance! Please be sure your e-mail/phone is correct on your application. Additional information about camp will be sent with acceptance letters.
